Would someone please explain what base means when used as 'I do a base/base process' or I am using a 80/20 base process' etc. ?

Sometimes I am just dense and I am easily confused

base/base indicates that we are using two stages both with "base" or alkyline catalyst. As opposed to single stage base process and acid/base process.

80/20 refers to the amount of ingedienents in each stage of the two stage process. For example, we could do 80/20 80/20 or 80/20 90/10. The second would mean that 90% of our catalyst was used in stage one.

both terms mean 2 step processing processing using a highly basic catalyst(KOH or NaOH).

The most basic form of biodiesel processing is a single step basic process. For WVO with very high titrations a 2-step acid/base process is sometimes used. This uses acid in the first step and a base in the second step. 2-step base/base process is done by initially putting in 80% of the methanol and catalyst, processing, draining off the glycerine, then adding the other 20% of methanol and catalyst. Some people refer to this as 80/20 base processing. Some people refer to it as 2-step base/base because they dont use exactly 80% in the first step and 20% in the second step. They might use 75/25 or 90/10. Its still a 2-step process using base catalyst in each step.

PS. In the examples, methanol % is a choice the user can make depending on desired conversion.

What is waste oil (ANY kind of used petroleum based fluid) that is filtered down, and mixed with diesel fuel?

Is this simply alternative fuel?

It really isn't considered "bio"... is it?

Some people say that it's solvent thinned biodiesel.

I assumed that biodiesel was made with methanol and lye though, and watered down, then dried out.

Is this biofuel?
